From a Sunday craft market in St. Kilda, to a manufacturer in Melbourne.

From selling to passersby to distributing Australia wide.

From "Frankenwax & Candlestein" to "Oz Cottage" to “Oz Candles”.

After early observations of other candlemakers, we found that very few people knew how to burn their candles properly, and gained converts from explaining to people how to get the best results. In 1978 we opened our "original" candle shop in Hawthorn.

Running a shop ourselves, we realized the need to give the retailer a reasonable margin and terms, while ensuring our own profitability and survival. This guaranteed customer confidence in our ability to supply their shops on a regular basis. Finding suitable places in which to make and store our craft was becoming a difficulty so, we headed for Maldon, in Central Victoria, in early 1982. "Frankenwax & Candlestein" became "Oz Cottage".

To help keep up with the demand, in late 1986. We looked to the advantages of high tech in administration and communication whilst preserving the traditional atmosphere of Oz Cottage. Then, in January 1987, in search of much needed larger premises, we shifted into "The Old Butter Factory" in Newstead, the next little village down the road. And stayed there for 21 years until we moved the factory to Bendigo in 2008. "Oz Cottage" became "Oz Candles'.

To seek a broader market and greater development opportunities, we moved the factory to the current location in 2013 where Oz Candles has grown to become one of Australia’s largest and most respected private label candle manufacturers.
